Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has lost her reelection bid — and by a lot — and former Trump press secretary Kayleigh McEnany took to social media on Wednesday to reminisce somewhat with the outgoing mayor and get in one final dig.

When she was still serving as White House press secretary in 2020, she called Lightfoot the “derelict mayor of Chicago” for her mishandling of Chicago’s crime wave. At the time, shootings were hitting all-time highs, there were parts of the city that resembled war zones, and Lightfoot repeatedly snapped back at then-President Donald Trump’s offers of assistance, including deploying the National Guard on embattled Chicago streets.
After McEnany made her observations, Lightfoot snapped at her on social media: “Hey Karen, watch your mouth.”
‘Karen’ is a derogatory term for an angry white woman. Lightfoot is black.
”This didn’t age well, Lori,” McEnany tweeted in response to Lightfoot’s election loss.

“Lori Lightfoot lost her election. Perhaps she should have woken up when I referred to her as the ‘derelict mayor of Chicago’ from the White House podium for ignoring victims of crime in her city! Instead, she said ‘Hey, Karen. Watch your mouth,’” she added.
Outkick founder Clay Travis piled on as well: “Lightfoot was crushed in tonight’s Chicago mayoral race and didn’t even make the runoff. 84% of Chicagoans voted against her. 84%! That level of incompetence is tough to pull off for an incumbent. Congrats to her.”
